The Exam Review Working Group was established in 2005, as a sub-group or satellite group of the Fast Track Credentials System (FTCS) Working Group and was asked to:

  • Review the stated purpose of various physician licensure/registration exams

  • Assess the examination construction process

  • Examine the level and scope of entry requirements

  • Examine the examination formats

  • Examine the scope of the exams (for equivalency in coverage of areas of medicine)

  • Examine equivalency in assessment standards and pass rates

  • Examine equivalency of the time period the exams are current

  • Assess the flexibility of various examination formats that may allow inclusion of region specific content, i.e., cultural considerations

  • Review any available research that would link examination performances with future performance as a doctor

  • Examine equivalency in security measures

The group reported its findings at IAMRA's 7th International Conference on Medical Regulation in November 2006.

In view of the valuable work achieved to date, the Management Committee has reinstated the Exam Review Working Group.  In addition to the above, the Exam Review Working Group is charged it to:

  • Expand its assessment of examinations for medical licensure/registration

  • Investigate methods and approaches for achieving greater parity between licensure/registration examinations

  • Identify best practices or principles for licensure/registration examinations

  • Identify potential strategies for recognition of substantial equivalencies in licensure/registration examinations

IAMRA ASSESSMENT RESOURCE

The IAMRA Exam Review Working Group is pleased to present the IAMRA Assessment Resource. IAMRA provides this site as a resource for those seeking information on the assessment requirements and practices of Medical Regulatory Authorities (MRAs) from around the world. The site contains recent information on the assessment requirements for medical practice in several MRAs that are members of IAMRA. It is the desire of IAMRA to add information for MRAs not currently represented. MRAs seeking to add information to this website should contact the IAMRA Secretariat.
